Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) will host the 12th International Festival of Innovative Projects, known as ‘Sikorsky Challenge 2023,’ from October 24 to 27.
The highlight of the Festival will be a competition showcasing innovative startup projects. The purpose of the Competition is to cherry-pick the most intriguing and cutting-edge projects in various technological fields, as well as to aid the creators of the best engineering developments to commercialize the results of their research activities, establish successful startup companies and promote innovative products in Ukrainian and international markets.
Given that this will be the second Festival held during wartime, its organizers have decided to devote it specially to the postwar reconstruction of Ukraine. They believe that the country’s recovery will rely heavily on the rapid and effective implementation of innovative technologies and developments across all sectors, including security, defense, and the economy.
The competition will culminate in the finals, which will feature the following categories:
- Defense and security
- Industrial hi-tech and space
- Information technology and cybersecurity
- Civil and military infrastructure
- Transportation and logistics
- Environmental and energy security
- Biomedical engineering and human health
- Agricultural engineering and food security
- Blue Economy (Maritime Transportation, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Costal and Maritime Tourism)
The startup project teams that reach the finals will have the opportunity to present their projects to the international jury and prospective investors. They may choose between offline presentations and poster sessions or video presentations in a synchronous online format.
In addition to cash prizes, the winners will be entitled to negotiations with Ukrainian and international customers, business angels, investors and representatives of foundations. These discussions can potentially lead to formalized collaborations.
