KPI students among the best inventors in the world

Kyiv polytechnic students won seven medals at I-FEST², the International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology in Monastir, Tunisia.

Specifically, Pavlo Shekhet and Ihor Klymenko, students at the Polytechnic Lyceum under the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), got gold medals for the projects on the newest protection of armored vehicles and a landmine detection quadcopter respectively.

Sofiia Pavlova, first-year student at the KPI Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science, KPI’s Lyceum students Andrii Demchenko and Andrii Mavrin won silver medals for the projects on the virtual laboratory of ecological monitoring, the automatic system to support a microclimate during the cultivation of plants, and processing of tires by cryo-vibrating method.

Bronze medals went to Lyceum students Zlata Bicheva and Volodymyr Plita for the projects on induction charging of urban transportation, and the automatic demining and fragment collecting system.

Oleh Kozlenko, head of the research laboratory of cryogenic technology at the KPI Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, is the supervisor of Pavlo Shekhet, Ihor Klymenko, Andrii Mavrin, Zlata Bicheva and Volodymyr Plita. Hanna Saryboha, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Electronics, is the supervisor of Sofiia Pavlova; and Liudmyla Bulyhina, assistant lecturer at the KPI Institute of Physics and Technology, is the supervisor of Andrii Demchenko.

I-FEST² is a nine-day festival organized by ATAST, the Tunisian Association for the future of Science and Technology. Students between the ages of 14 and 24 with spectacular ideas are eligible to apply to the International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology.

It is worth noting too that Ihor Klymenko won a gold award at the virtual Malaysia Technology Expo (MTI) that took place on March 21-25, 2022. His quadcopter has some benefits that are not related to flight: it is compact and portable, fitting into a regular backpack. It also minimizes human involvement, therefore possibly saving the lives of deminers.

Last year Sofiia Pavlova won a gold award at the 45th international invention show INOVA 2021 that took place in Zagreb, Croatia, on October 13-16. In particular, her virtual-reality laboratory collects information by means of drones and land-based robots, displays environmental monitoring data through a web-based interface and gives tips to maintain clean air.

Recently, Andrii Mavrin won a gold medal for his project and the Canadian Special Award of Excellence at the 7th International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, iCAN 2022, organized by the Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills (TISIAS).

Well done Kyiv polytechnic students!
