This year, seven teachers and students from the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), along with four graduates of the KPI Polytechnic Lyceum, received diplomas as winners of the Kyiv Mayor’s Prize for outstanding achievements in the development of the capital city of Ukraine under the category “Achievements in Science.” Notably, KPI recipients comprised half of all the awardees.
The prize is awarded annually to talented, inquisitive and actively engaged young Kyiv residents between the ages of 14 and 35, who demonstrate remarkable commitment to scientific research and public life. Among the winners this year is Andrii Mavrin (pictured), a student at the KPI Lyceum.
It is worth noting too that Andrii Mavrin won a silver medal for his innovative project on the processing of tires by cryo-vibrating method at I-FEST², the International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology in Monastir, Tunisia, in 2022.
Moreover, he achieved a victory at the 7th International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, iCAN 2022, which took place in August of the same year. He won a gold medal and the Canadian Special Award of Excellence from the Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills (TISIAS), the organizers of the competition.
Andrii Mavrin’s supervisor is Oleh Kozlenko, who serves as the head of the research laboratory specializing in cryogenic technology at the KPI Faculty of Physics and Mathematics.
These achievements highlight the exceptional dedication and remarkable potential of the students and faculty at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, underscoring their significant contributions to the scientific community.
