A monument to honor the late Borys Paton, former President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, was unveiled at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of his birth on November 27. Participants in the unveiling ceremony remembered Borys Paton as a benevolent man and a scientist of rare genius.
In addition, a bas-relief in Paton’s honor was put up on the house where he had been born and his family lived, and a memorial plaque unveiled at the State Polytechnic Museum that was named for Borys Paton.
Borys Paton’s family had been residing on the KPI campus for a long time, and it was here where the budding scientist received higher education. He defended his thesis on June 22, 1941.
