KPI student wins gold award at international festival in Tunisia

Olga Borovyk, first-year student at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science under the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), won a gold award at the International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology (I-FEST) that took place in Monastir, Tunisia.

The KPI student gave the presentation on her research project entitled “Lens with Variable Optical Characteristics”. Specifically, she invented two elastic films, filling the space between them with glycerin. Olga Borovyk’s invention relates to an equation for the dependence of optical power on a changed volume and vice versa.

Organized by the Tunisian Association for the Future of Science and Technology, the nine-day event was the largest research projects competition on the African continent. This year I-FEST was attended by 1,000 participants from more than 40 countries.
