Kyiv Polytechnic continues to systematically improve energy efficiency

Owing to the support of Polish colleagues Jacek Królikowski and Magdalena Krasowska-Igras from the Information Society Development Foundation (Fundacja FRSI), a stationary uninterruptible power supply system has been installed in the Library of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. This makes it possible to promptly process user requests, remain constantly available for consultations, and carry out monitoring and analytical work.

Henceforth, even during prolonged power outages, the library maintains its essential services. The Periodicals Reading Room continues to function as a flexible space for learning and hosting events. At the same time, the Centre for Information Support of Education and Research provides information support for university’s research and educational activities, maintains the institutional repository, as well as monitors the publication activity of researchers.

A library is one of the central pillars of the university’s educational and research infrastructure, granting access to knowledge, research resources, analytical information and services without which a comprehensive educational process would be impossible. In this spirit, the Kyiv Polytechnic Library endeavours to develop the practices that incentivise and reward open access to scholarly outputs and promote open science throughout the entire research process.

Special thanks are due to Fundacja FRSI for its support. Not only does this contribution strengthen the resilience of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute as an integrated ecosystem, but it enables university’s services to operate continuously in spite of energy-related challenges.
