As a result of a major drone and missile attack by the terrorist state that goes under the name of Russia in the dark hours between 22 to 23 June 2025, 12 buildings on the campus of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute were damaged. Among them are a sports centre, academic buildings, and four dormitories.
Miraculously no one has been hurt due to the damage inflicted on university facilities. University’s services promptly started working to eliminate the consequences of the enemy barrage, and a clean-up is well under way. It is necessary to replace more than 560 shattered windows, alongside other repair work.
Also, it is important to note that the university campus has been hit for the second time in the past week. In particular, historic academic building No. 4 was damaged in an earlier attack on the night of 16 to 17 June 2025.
The Kyiv Polytechnic administration reiterates that all members of the university community must stay in shelters located in academic buildings and dormitories during air-raid alerts.
The toll is heavy: millions of dollars in damage, with thousands of square metres of broken glass, disrupted communications, and more structural harm. Yet even in the face of Russian terrorism, the spirit of Kyiv Polytechnic remains unbending.
Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute appeals to its partners, alumni and all people of goodwill to support the university in its efforts to restore what has been damaged by the murderous Putin regime.
Rebuilding higher education in Ukraine after the heinous Russia’s aggression is key for socio-economic recovery, peace-building, development and progress.
