Anastasiia Kurulenko, 11th grade student at the Polytechnic Lyceum under the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), has won a gold medal at INOVA 2022, the 46th International Invention Show, that took place in Osijek, Croatia, on October 12-15.
Kurulenko’s scientific project is a program developed to identify risk groups for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Specifically, the software system is intended to identifying people most at risk of cardiovascular disease in the course of a survey even at the workplace, giving them a timely appointment with their family physician.
The program is based on 10 most important cardiovascular risk factors. Patients undergoing testing are divided into high, medium, and low risk groups. The user who conducts the survey gets the pie chart automatically generated by the Kurulenko’s program, which shows the percentage of people in three risk groups.
“I acted as President of INOVA 2022 International jury, and was very impressed by the format of this year’s INOVA, held in Osijek, the Invention and Innovation Exhibition, the Business conference with B2B meetings, the Business Plans competition which a lot of young people attended,” Prof. Augustin Semenescu from Romania’s University Politehnica Bucharest said. “Among them was a large delegation of Ukrainian teenagers who impressed me with their ideas of innovation, and their fluent English.”
